There should be conditional 7th but can become a 1st if they make it out of the 1st round

Well, if a team like UTAH offered their 1C (Bjugstad), 1D (Durzi) and 1G (Ingram) clearly Toronto would not do it and UTAH would love it.

Teams with actual #1's at all three positions would not be interested.
I am sure the Leafs would settle for your #2 centre in Logan Cooley your #2 LW Lawson Crouse + to make up the difference in value they will also take the 6th OA pick + Arz 2024 2nd + Arz 2025 1st.

Every GM should be looking to upgrade their team. Doesn’t mean the players need to know that they’re expandable or youd trade em all at the right price.

But if a team offered an egregious amount for even McDavid. That GM better listen, even if he decides the answer is “no”

So yes. Matthews is available to drop an offer on. He better be.

What if the Leafs got offered a #1C, a #1D and a #1 goalie for Matthews? Even if the Leafs have to add picks to balance the trade. Would and should the Leafs do it despite just signing Matthews to a new contract that starts next season? Or is Matthews untouchable?

Would Matthews accept a trade to a team that moves #1C #1D and #1G for him ? That would signficantly gut his new team and hinder his ability to compete for pretty much anything

His brand and marketing alone is worth more to the Organization than any hockey "haul" they may receive. He will not not be moved unless he specifically asks to be moved, or he's in the final year and doesn't want to resign. There are other players they can and will move. Matthews isn't going anywhere unless he wants out.

It would depend on what they were getting because it is easy to make the case his reputation and cap hit is much higher than his results.

Getting a legit #1 at each position looks like a pretty good deal to me.
If it’s easy to make the case go for it because I feel like it would be impossible to

Every team would consider trading their star if the haul was worth it and made them better.

Utah will keep on the draft and develop path.

here's the thing about fire sales, you aren't going to get market value in return for your assets.

The Sharks got the 14 overall pick and Granlund for a 100-point Defenseman fresh off a Norris win. Think about it.

Depends on the players. What team would give away their top players at several key positions?

Then there's the problem right there. The core doesn't have the right mindset. How can you fix something when the problem doesn't take any accountability in how they can overcome their problem.

Contrary to what the other poster said there is zero evidence that Matthews takes no accountability for where they are. Also, Matthews’ comments about scapegoating were in defense of Mitch Marner who has faced an avalanche of criticism from fans and media here. Not at all saying that some isn’t warranted, but Matthews also isn’t wrong.

Leafs would be lucky to get 2 of the 3 (1C, 1D, 1G), let alone all 3.
