Would it be cheap if a goalie modified his glove to use independent finger movement?

So what if a goalie had modified his glove so that a section of the glove could raise out so he could actually grip his goalie stick? The fingers of the "glove" would be held do the actual trapper by strong elastic material, so he would only have independent finger control if he tightly gripped a stick (also so the actual trapper part would still retain function). Would this be allowed? Then the goalie could have 2 hands with which could fully grip a stick unlike how it is now where only the blocker hand is fully functional.

If this became a thing, would Goalies join the rush more?

In order to have precise finger movement to obtain a good grip, wouldn't that mean less protection on the hand, and therefore a massively increased risk of hand injury?

No the 'glove' would sit firmly inside the glove, so it would look like a normal goalie glove 90% of the time, but if he pulled hard enough on the elastics holding the fingers down, he could raise the glove out of the glove and grip a stick.

How would he get it back into the original shape?

Goalies can not join the rush as they can't control the puck past center ice. If a goalie touches the puck or initiates contact with a player past the center ice line it's an automatic 2 minute minor.

There's no free lunch here. If you want flexible fingers then you sacrifice protection in some way. Goalies get their hands broken and injured by sticks jambing at the puck all the time. I'd like to see what a goalie thinks about getting a stick pushed or slammed against that seam. It won't have the same support structure distributing the impact out.

Besides goalies started off with fingers gloves on their catching hand. There's a reason things evolved to where they are now.

OMG. Look at the size of the pads! No wonder they couldn't score back then. Look at how high it is on his leg! Pretty sure your pants can protect you there. Gross.

First, this isn't the right forum for this thread as it's not specifically about the NHL. Second, it's a ridiculous premise. Closed.
