Jonathan Drouin still a possibility for the world jrs? I hope so

Craig Button ‏@CraigJButton
I would have said no a month ago but I think a possibility exists.

If Drouin actually goes, imagine a Drouin-McDavid-Reinhart/Fabbri/Petan line :amazed:

Really hope Fucale doesn't get invited, I've seen a few games and I haven't been impressed

We've got a week or so before Team Canada starts their mini camp, so I thought we could speculate on who makes the team on Team Canada/USA/Finland/Sweden

Good thing you don't have that bum on your fantasy team.

Drouin and McD would be dynamite!

I don't want Drouin to go, if he does it makes it even more difficult for Klimchuk to make it

Will Poirier be eligible? And would he be released from Adirondak?

Don't forget Russia. Rafikov is pretty much a lock for Russia, from my understanding. He was just the captain of the team that won the Subway Super Series and Bragin really likes the kid, apparently.

No I was not wondering about Monahan. That would be ridiculous.

Probably because monahan is our #1 C and would not be allowed to go even if he was eligibe.
I never said anything about him being allowed to go. Monahan being ineligible is the same as Poirier being ineligible.

But no one would have the audacity to even ask if Monahan was eligible or not... Besides, who knows how good Monahan would be in a juniors tournament

Monahan would dominate like Bergeron did when he played in the WJC after a full NHL season under his belt.

Wouldn't say that, there are cases in which NHL calibre players did not dominate, such as RNH or Hamilton

Hell, this one may be a stretch, but Drouin last year didn't impress me or dominate like everyone thought he would

I do believe RNH was fighting injuries. Hamilton was not an NHL calibre player when he played, neither was Drouin.

I really hope Bennett goes no where near this tournament. Treliving joked saying Sam would tell you he's ready to play today.

I could post this in the other thread but I'll post this here. In a weird way, I think Bennett getting hurt this year may be a blessing in disguise. The only knock on him is he needs to add strength to his body for the style of game he plays. Well apparently according to Treliving he's progressing very well since his surgery. He's working very closely with the Flames trainer and nutrionist and he's been doing everything they are telling him in terms of eating and training.

If Bennett was playing here or back in the OHL this season theres no chance he would be training like this. It sounds as though he's been dieting a lot and training really hard daily. We may actually see a more improved, stronger version of Bennett when he returns. If Bennett ever adds 15-20 lbs (he will) of muscle from the time he was drafted, he's going to be such a great player. His skill set is very much like Gaudreau's IMO, he's faster than Johnny and he plays like a bulldog. I think he's going to be a top 3 scorer from his draft, but I think overall he may be the best player from his draft considering everything he does. I would not trade Bennett for RNH because I believe Sam will be better.

I am beginning to think there's a slim chance Bennett may stay up all season depending on how his rehab is going. He can train legs full out and I bet he's going to be a whole lot stronger when he returns.

Where are people getting info on bennett, all I know is that he had his surgery last month and I can't find anything on his progress.

Isn't there like a 0% chance he plays? Thought he was still out for a good chunk of time.

I think so. Couldn't see this guy shooting the puck and getting regular practices in until late January/Feb.

Best case IMO, he's ready to play January-Februaryish. Gets AHL condition stint, and plays the last 15-20 or so games of the season.

Are you talking about the year RNH was with the oilers and got sent down to play in the WJC? If so he averaged 3 points per game I believe.

Not quite 6 games 15 points

I personally think he'll get a few games with the main core, mostly sitting in the stands, practicing with the NHLers and then he'll be sent down to the O
