Hey everyone here at HF Boards,
My name is Carlos and I'm patty_kane_96 on PSN.
I'm looking at starting up a 'World League' of some kind, which would be hosted here on HF Boards on this very thread.
The premise of this league is very simple:
Gary Bettman has been fired as NHL commissioner, and newly-apponinted commissioner Brendan Shanahan has decided to ditch most American and some Canadians markets in an effort to globally expand the great game.

LEAGUE FORMAT
NORTH AMERICAN CONFERENCE
Toronto Maple Leafs (4off, 4.5def, 3.5goa,12 TOTAL)
Los Angeles Kings (4off, 4.5def, 4.5goa,13 TOTAL)
NY Rangers (4off, 4.5def, 4.5goa,13 TOTAL)
Vancouver Canucks (4.5off, 4.5def, 4.5goa, 13.5 TOTAL)
EUROPEAN CONFERENCE
Vaxjo Lakers (Sweden) (2.5off, 3def, 3goa, 8.5 TOTAL)
Adler Mannheim (Germany) (3off, 3def, 3goa, 9 TOTAL)
HC Sparta Praha (Czech) (3off, 3def, 3.5goa, 9.5 TOTAL)
HC Davos (Switzerland) (3off, 3def, 3goa, 9 TOTAL)
Shanahan announced in a pre-season press conference that, if there were enough willing ownership groups, the league would look to expand to 10, and possibly even 12 teams, for Season 2.
SCHEDULE
Home-and-away with each conference team 6 games
One match-up with other-conference teams 4 games
This brings the total to a 10 game season, short enough to be completed in 2-3 weeks.
PLAYOFFS
North American 1st v. European 2nd
European 1st v. North American 2nd
*European teams get home ice advantage throughout playoffs due to lesser calibre.
TROPHIES
Donald S. Cherry Cup - Awarded to the winner of the WIHL
Steve Yzerman Bowl - Awarded to best regular season N.A. team
Valeri Kharmalov Trophy - Awarded to best reg. season EURO team
