So post World-Championships who possibly played their way onto WC rosters?

I think Drury is in for sure for team USA. Drury showed alot of heart and loyalty going to the Czech Rep and playing for this team when alot of others said no. Hats off to Drury.

If I were Ron Wilson I'd go.

Tkachuk- Modano- Guerin
Leclair- Weight- Hull
Amonte- York- Rolston
Drury- Conroy- Cole
Gomez

Leetch- Rafalski
Schneider- Miller
Leopold- Carney
Mara

Esche
DiPietro

If I were Pat Quinn I'd go

Nash- Sakic- Iginla
Bertuzzi- Lemieux- Heatley
St. Louis- Thornton- Doan
Smyth- Peca- Richards
Tanguay
Kariya

Niedermayer- Pronger
Blake- Foote
Jovanovski- Redden
McCabe

Brodeur
Luongo

For the U.S.:

Forwards. There will be some turnover due to age, injuries, quality of play. Here is who I think are definates:

Modano, Amonte, Tkachuk, Weight, Guerin, Drury, Roenick. That leaves five roster spots. Potential additions: Hull, LeClair, Rolston, York, Konowalchuk, Gomez, Langenbrunner, Parrish, Legwand, Cole, Conroy.

Defense. Again, some turnover is definate. My definates:

Leetch, Miller, Schneider, Rafalski. That leaves three to four additonal players. Potential additions: Mara, Hedican, Hill, Klee, Berard, Leopold, Carney, Hatcher, Liles, Weinrich, Poti, Gill, Chelios.

Goaltenders. Again, some turnover. Definates:

Esche, DiPietro. That leaves one spot. Potential additions: Grahame, Conklin, Dunham, Johnson, Boucher, Johnson.

Here's my team (there will be three extra players due to the roster being up to 26 players, these are "extras"):

LeClair-Modano-Hull
Tkachuk-Roenick-Amonte
Konowalchuk-Weight-Guerin
Drury-Legwand-York

Extras: Rolston and Gomez

Leetch-Carney
Schneider-Miller
Rafalski-Chelios
Mara-Leopold

Extra: Hatcher

Esche
Dunham
DiPietro

Conroy has to play over Kono and Legwand. Conroy will be a huge part of the team with his PK skills and defensive awareness, by far the best def. forward the American team has to offer.

Plus he has some offensive skills.

Definitely, Conroy has played his way on this team, especially with the playoffs he's having right now.

I can see Conroy being on the team. IMO the 3rd and 4th lines could be a dozen combinations that would be great. I'm just going with preferance here.

If I were Slava Fetisov I'd start by firing everyone in the Russian hockey federation, then hire Larionov as GM, get Larry Robinson as coach (because it's better to have an NHL specialist for small rinks), add Kasatonov, Tretyak and Yurzinov for the assistant jobs.

My team Canada (no lines)

Offense:

Locks: Sakic, Kariya, Iginla, Lemieux (if healthy), Heatley

Others: Thornton, Bertuzzi, St-Louis, Doan, Nash, Smyth, Primeau

Extra:Tanguay, Morrow, Lecavalier

Defense:

Locks: Blake, Pronger, Niedermayer

Others: Jovanovski, Redden, Foote

Extra: Hannan

Goalies:

Brodeur (duh)
Luongo
Belfour/Theodore (more likely Belfour, better to have a veteran backup just in case)

So, I guess it could look like:

Kariya-Sakic-Iginla
Bertuzzi-Lemieux-Heatley
Smyth-Primeau-Nash
St-Louis-Thornton-Doan

Won't bother with the defense pairings. So many great Canadian players to choose from, so no matter who's chosen there's gonna be some controversy.
