Damn, had totally forgotten Senegal had been eliminated from Russia because they had more yellow cards than Japan.

Seemed like 9/10 outfield players figured they'd step up to catch the guy offside at the back post and the last outfield player was stationed directly on the goal line so there was no chance of an offside.

What a response.

de Jong lacks agility and is a terrible finisher, but everything else he does close to perfection, ball control, through balls, short passes. I also don't see him as a DM, not aggressive enough for the position, he's better as a number 8. He's also capable of playing passes like the winning goal in the first game, which very few players can play. You take the good with the bad.

Frenkie's a dutch Toni Kroos, minus Toni's shot.

Damn if Senegal goes through I ain’t even mad. Good for them.

They've really played well and met this tough challenge from Ecuador well. Shame Mane's out, but they've come together really well without him...rather than playing for their star, like Portugal does...so maybe we're seeing some Ewing-effect in action?

Plus they've got a german youth team product starting for them (Jakobs), and that always gets bonus points lol

Don’t know how anyone watching this game thinks USA/Iran is better than either of these teams. Shame that one has to go out

Ecuador's push for an equalizer has been really weak. It's just long balls vs a team that can defend them pretty well.

Yeah. They're like a SA version of the swiss. Very tough to break down, very resilient, and dangerous on set pieces...but they struggle when they have to create with the ball.
