They needed C, and they found some Czech, who's on pace for GPG in Czech Extra League. Considering Russian teams in the KHL have only 5 slots for foreign players, they needed to let someone go. Wolski was one of their better players, though, and Metallurg fans didn't understand and appreciate the move, so who knows...

They terminated his contract because they needed a center and wanted to clear some salary as well. The team was the one to initiate it to begin with, they don't care where he goes next.

He is one of those bubble guys between the NHL and the KHL. Jan Mursak,Borna Rendulic,Enver Lisin are above average players in the KHL but can’t really play their games as 3rd and fourth liners in the NHL.

Lazy bum, that's why. If you ever think about a guy who is insanely skilled, but just can't be bothered to put in any kind of effort he should be your first thought. He is the epitome of a guy who coasted and went by just on talent alone, that doesn't work in the NHL, but does in the KHL where there is a bit more space, worse defenses, less high tempo up and down games etc.
