Yzerman trading up for Cossa was bizarre to say the least. He needed a goalie and he traded up to choose the lesser rated goalie. Why? It's yet another example of Yzerman trying to appear smarter than everyone else. We saw it with the ridiculously bad Kasper pick in this past draft.
He wants to built his team his way under his image. And he doesn't care if it goes against consensus opinion of most. It's this level of cockiness that wings fans are going to regret.

If you think the roster of this quality "doesn't belong" in this tournament, who does? Unless you are arguing for less teams in the top division, get over yourself. Something like Switzerland has sent many rosters objectively weaker than this to the WJC, they don't belong either?

You are fighting a losing battle. Average (and I emphasize average) hockey fan doesn't grasp how uncompetitive hockey really is. Asking non-top 5 countries to be challengers in age restricted tournament like WJC is just crazy.

Yeah, you just have to check out his post history to see how much he pulls out of his backside. He clearly despises the Wings/Yzerman and enjoys trolling these boards. According to him, Kasper is a projected "enforcer" and the slowest skater of the draft, who will be lucky to make the 4th line. Apparently his SHL playoffs and World Championship performances don't rate, but Nemec was the best defender since Bobby Orr for Slovakia in those same Worlds.

As for Cossa and being a late 1st or 2nd round pick...Black Book had him at 7, Pronman at 10, Bobby Mac had him at 14, Button at 19, Wheeler at 19, and EP at 22. Sure some of the fringe publications out there had him closer to 30, but the actual names in the game had him mid first at the latest. So again, a claim pulled from the rear.
