Wallstedt looks like a giant in net, his waist is nearly at the crossbar when standing.

I’m so glad we don’t have Askarov
Has arguably been the weak link for Russia for 3 years in a row now. Maybe he will end up like the Canadian goalies who look poor in WJC but fine in NHL.

Wallstedt hasn’t had much action to this point but looks very quiet in his net and is always square on the puck. That will play as he advances. Does play very deep in his paint though so I think that’s something they may want to address.

And if you contrast Wallstedt’s play with Askarov, the Russian is never square, always flailing with his athleticism bailing himself out, and tends to make a meal out of everything. The tools are there for that kid but he needs a ton of attention from someone.

Well the organization that owns his rights is pretty well known for giving goalies attention.

And I think that’s the one thing you can still hang your hat on for his prospects in the NHL. He has every literal aspect you could ask for in goaltending prospect. When they can get their hands on him and what can be undone at that point remains to be seen.

So is the rationale for calling that a goal is that the puck would have crossed the line if the net weren’t knocked off caused by Sweden? No earthly idea on the International rules. The net was certainly off before the puck went in.

2 of the goals Wallstedt has allowed he had an opportunity to freeze the puck but couldn't handle it.

Hes been pretty unfortunate though, 2 goals deflected in off a teammate and 1 he was taken out by a falling player and the puck went in due to the collision.

Ya didn’t much care for Khusnutdinov’s game. Think Haula is a more realistic expectation for him.

Wallstedt gave up three but wasn’t really beaten. Don’t care for how he plays behind the net, he’ll be susceptible to those goals if he continues to do so. All in all, looks every bit a future capable NHL goaltender.

Wallstedt goals against:
1st goal: puck bounces off end-wall; he tries to cover it at side of blue paint but cant; puck ends up near bottom of the circles and is shot wide deflects off d-man skate into net.

2nd goal: Michkov undresses d-man Wallstedt stops inital shot; immediately after the save Michkov is cross-checked and slides into Wallstedt and knocks net off and puck goes in. (im surprised it was allowed, puck only went in because of the collision.)

3rd goal: puck is in the corner below the goal line; puck is thrown towards the slot it hits a d-man and deflects up into Wallstedt's ear hole and in the net.

Lambos has looked flustered with the puck on his stick both shifts I’ve seen him.

It's between Edvinsson, Power, and Sanderson for best Dman of the Tournament. All are really good.

Wallstedt had 3 fluke goals go in on him. All three either went in off his player in an improbable fashion, and the other was even worse. His player cross checked Michkov into him after he made the save, knocking him, the puck, and the net off. I guess you can give him a bit of blame for not handling a rebound on one, but it was still flukey.

Jack Peart with an assist on PP. Think he has already logged more icetime than Lambos in similar role (listed as 7th D for the game).
