Would have voted other if given more than two choices. But it's a tie-breaker so went with Harkins, just barely.

Samberg.

The sheer magnitude of value with potential differences negates the smaller difference in safety.

Put it this way, Samberg misses his upside but still makes the NHL as a quality 3rd pair, he probably still generates similar or more value than Harkins hitting his 3C realistic ceiling.

2017 Dylan Samberg, D, Hermantown [Minn. H.S.]

558 games in the NHL combined - and 515 of those are from Stepan. You have to go back to 2005 to Taylor Chorney to find a USHS defenseman drafted in the 2nd round who played more than 100 NHL games.

Who's his PCS cohort here Garret? Does it include Matt Smaby, maybe?

harkins' ceiling is not just a 3C.. that's your own opinion

he could be a stastny/krejci type player

also you are overhyping samberg immensely. i think a 3rd pairing guy is all we should expect. he reminds me of an extremely poverty version of trouba

Voting Harkins because he officially was runner-up for 7th best prospect, so he should have got 8th by default.

Agreed even though I voted Samberg over Harkins. These guys are in such a tight range now it comes down to who logs on at the right time to tip the scales.

I did that last time we had a tiebreaker (between Morrissey and Petan in 2015, IIRC), and people were mad. :)

Morrissey and Petan tied. Shows how hard it is to predict how prospects will turn out. Anyone with strong views that Harkins is better than Samberg, or vice versa, would do well to keep that in mind. However, strong views that Stanley sucks are completely justifiable. ;)
