Get rid of points. Just wins and losses. You know, like the way the nfl, nba and mlb does it.

2 points for the win, 0 for the loss, whether it happens in regulation time, overtime or shootout!, A loss is a loss! Period the end.

Regulation or OT, okay, but the shootout should not be the difference between 2 points and 0 points.

Two points for a regulation, you should be rewarded the most by winning the game in 60 minutes.

One point for an OT/SO win. Extend three on three OT to 10 minutes long (maybe even 20), followed by a shootout.

No points for losing at all. Why get rewarded with a loss?
