Bill Daly take on the latest meetings from Sportsnet..

Sportsnet.ca -- The National Hockey League and Players' Association expect to spend at least one more session covering team finances.

While lockout discussions appear to be crawling along at a snail's pace, the NHL believes the past two days of meetings in Chicago have been part of what is described by Chief Legal Officer, Bill Daly as "genuine process."

Both sides agree these talks have been progressive, however any negotiating on a cap system has been done in very basic and general terms only.

However, much of what has been accomplished over the last two weeks is viewed as a process that could have -- and should have -- been completed months, if not years ago.

So, anticipating a settlement within days is grossly exaggerating where the negotiations currently stand

I would hope that once this is settled, that we don't see another cancelled NHL game for many, many years.

They, and I mean both sides, owe it to everyone involved with the game to not let this sad saga repeat itself.
