Michelle Larcher de Britto has the only grunt more annoying than Sharapova's and Azarenka's, so I laughed like hell over this.
As for Fed, his opponent played an amazing match. Fed was OK. Couldn't summon his best at a point when he normally wouldn't need to. His plight is the inconsistency and good days/so-so days that creep in with the age/mileage. I think I'll wind up regretting my inability to stop measuring Federer against himself. I'd much rather just enjoy watching him play, but it's hard to do.
Joker and Murray may be licking chops, but Wimbledon is due for one of those years with a rogue champion, someone who's not part of the chain of succession among the all-time greats of the era. Just trying to figure out who that is, I gotta get on that draw sheet and try to figure it out.
Meantime, I'm back calling lines this year at ATP Newport (first time since 1998, yikes). I'll be doing WTT again this year as well. No heckling please.
