Federer and Muguruza are defending champs.
Federer will go in as the favorite but I'll go out on a limb and say he doesn't win this year. I'm going to bet on Cilic to get it done.
All the usual faces are back on tour, some with considerable rust but there.
Nadal is planning on playing (for now), but I don't rate him much on grass and I'll stick by that.

Why would Nadal not play Wimbledon? I know Roger skips most of the clay season but he's a lot older and it's grueling. I can't imagine Rafa ever skipping it.
Can't wait for this tourney, this is the best one for me and the time zone isn't horrible for those of us on eastern time.

3 Canadians were in qualifying action yesterday. Schnur and Polansky both won but Peliwo lost. I think Schnur and Polansky have pretty good shots at qualifying.
Our 4 women will play their Q1 today.

Genie won her first round qualifying match pretty easily this morning and then followed it up with this interview...why does she have such a HUGE chip on her shoulder? Come on...

Bouchard and Andreescu won today to reach the final round of qualifying.

Bouchard wins her Q3 in straight sets to qualify. I watched most of the match and Genie is looking much more like 2014 Genie. Looks like she has put the muscle/weight back on and seems very focused. She's got a very experienced, no nonsense coach now. We'll see what she can do.
Schnur unfortunately lost. Still young at 22, but I feel like this was an opportunity missed.
Polansky just won the 3rd set in his match, but down 2 sets to 1. If he does lose, he could be in line for another LL
18 year old Andreescu is in tough against Lottner and down early.

Well the ultimate LL Polansky wasn't so lucky this time. Just one LL slot so far and he didn't get it.
He is currently #4 on the LL list so he still has a chance. Draw is tomorrow and we saw what happened at Roland Garros.

Shapovalov draws Chardy in R1. If I'm being honest, I don't think Denis gets through there...we'll see.
Vasek gets Kukuskin who is in good form right now on grass. Vasek's had some success at Wimbledon in the past, so maybe he can conjure that up.
Raonic draws Broady (Brit). If Milos can stay fit, then he's got a decent draw.

Second half of the women's draw is a bear. In the top half, both Muguruza and Halep have very decent draws. Halep on grass is not ideal, but she is so technically sound that it is dangerous to disregard her chances. Still, I like Muguruza to repeat a lot, especially with Kvitova now questionable because of a hamstring injury.
On the men's side, Federer has to be the favourite because he has a sweet draw up to the semis and because he is Roger. I agree with Tuggy that if there is going to be a fly in the ointment this year, it will likely be Cilic. My dark horse candidate: Kyrgios. I might put a quid or three on Nole just for the hell of it, given the 11/2 odds.
Interesting factoid: John Isner, who one would assume should do well on grass, has never gotten beyond the third round at Wimbledon in nine attempts. Height is not necessarily an advantage on a surface that skids.

Roger is obviously not playing a good player, but he's still playing much better than what I saw from him recently.
