Yes because:
1. Berube will be fired,
2. Couturier will improve,
3. Schenn will improve
4. signing offseason free agent

No because:
1. Lecavalier will only be older and therefore worse next season,
2. Umberger will be older and therefore worse next season,
3. Streit will not only be older but may be injured at some point next season,
4. Giroux or Voracek may have an injury that causes them to miss some time,
5. MDZ might regress after signing a contract extension,
6. With the exception of perhaps Cousins, the Flyers prospects, including Laughton, have not yet proved their ready at the AHL level,
7. Mason is less spectacular
8. Some of their peers should be much better next season, such as Carolina who suffered alot because Jordan Staal was injured, such as Columbus which also suffered with alot of injuries including Ryan Murray, and such as Florida which is clearly and up and coming team.

Although firing Berube will help alot, I think the fact that even with Giroux, Streit and Voracek not missing any significant time and Streit, Mason and Voracek having a great season suggests to me that the Flyers will be unlikely to make the playoffs next season.

It's possible.

A lot will depend on what happens with the coaching in the offseason, who they draft, who they can dump in the offseason, and if any D prospects can play.

Ask again in September.

I would say it's unlikely, but that's assuming Hextall's hands are tied by the cap. If Lecavalier gets fed up and retires and they find a sucker for MacDonald all of a sudden they have an extra 9M

Obviously a lot will happen in the off-season (for all teams), but I guess that the Flyers will be in a similar spot next year: clearly not a playoff certainty, probably not a conference bottom feeder, likely in a group of teams that could finish anywhere from 6th-11th.

As of now, no. If we do it will be the 7th or 8th spot. If you asked about 2 years from now I am optimistic/hopeful to say yes.

Yes unless Berube is back. Hextall obviously knows that the team as constructed will not be a contender and in Philly with the Flyers that won't do. You can get away with that for one season but the next one has to show improvement. I look for the following: a new coach who is good with young players and some significant trades over the summer with anyone on the current roster that is not named Giroux, Vorachek, Couturier, Simmonds or Mason possibly being dealt.
The team will probably be a work in progress, especially on defense where Morin, Ghostisbehere and Alt should be worked into the seven man mix as the season goes on. Grossmann, Cola, Schenn to be out of here by Xmas. The kids should give the defense the mobility and puck moving ability that is not there now and which bottles up the offense. The key guy will be Morin. He'll be tested physically right off of the bat. If he can play a bit nasty it would really help out. Hopefully he'll find some inner Pronger or Hatcher to set the tone for his play.
If the Flyers don't make the POs next season, there had better be a good reason why or Snider will blow up the FO.

Realistic answer is it is to early to tell. Hockey is an easy sport to make the playoffs in and it doesn't take a lot to improve. So sure they could. But they also have a lot of problems and seem to be moving slowly. If they ran the same team out sure they would likely miss it but if they make some big changes (which we can't see) they could.

IMO Flyers may give some fun seasons but won't be cup contenders for a nice long while pending some unscene highway robbery or freakish unexpected prospect growth. But I feel they will beat the same dead horse(s) for years more.

I think it really depends on the defensive prospects and how they perform.

Most of our team is locked in for next year. We are currently an average to slightly below average team. Unless some major trades happen I see the same thing again where we fight near the end for a playoff spot but miss out.

Berube returning will also hurt the team. Depends if Hex gets rid of a Flyers family member.

Berube has to go. And Hextall needs to move some dead weight this offseason. I'm excited for next season, i think we'll be fighting for the wild card spot next season while getting stronger as the season goes on and the team gels with the new players and system, maybe Ghost, Morin, Laughton are brought in and make an impact

With G,Simmonds,Voracek and Mason its unbelievable that they didn't make the playoffs this year.

If we

Get a new coach
eliminate some dead weight in Umberger and perhaps Vinny
Get 2 new dmen that can play in the top 4

Were good to go

depends on defensive prospects and if giroux and voracek can be consistent offensive threats. this team needs them to lead and produce consistently. we are a different team, obviously, when thats happening.

this might sound stupid but humour me... if their one-timers go south they lose confidence big time...

edit: i love simmons but hes too streaky too. i must say tho thats its weird how his offensive chances...deflections and rebounds...just seem to dry up. hes in the same position and eager for the puck and no one feeds him or he doesnt seem to get a good rebound...so really hard to blame him just seems like ****ty puck luck. could be that other teams are covering him a little tighter too...hard to tell.

if these three players are on their game they can carry us to the playoffs almost by themselves...overcoming a lot of our coaching and defensive liabilities.

Wayyyyyy too early to think about this. There's a good chance this team looks a lot different year...for better or worse. I'm gonna say if they make minimal changes, they are hovering around the wild card. If they make big changes, could be top five or could be bottom five. But again, way too early to even think about.
