As of the 16th of February, the Avalanche's record is 15-38-2. There are 27 games left in the season. In order to reach 60 losses we would need to lose 22 of them. Is it possible?

Are OT losses not losses?
Depending on how you view it, they'd have to lose 20 of them to hit 60.
A friend of mine convinced me in the off season that the Avs are a playoff team. Should I be cruel and find that text and send a screenshot of it to him? Tampa fan here lurking.

I'm sure you told him Tampa would be a playoff team too

I predicted that this team would not break 40 points and I'm sticking by that prediction.
They will finish the season with 23 losses in their final 27 games

Based on this article it looks like the Avs aren't that bad but the Senators and Sharks both played in a different era. I guess the Avs are going to set a modern NHL record? Has any other team come close to this post Crosby entering the league?
That's why this isn't going to happen next year. It was a perfect storm of several factors that lead to this glorious implosion. It's not going to take much to get to 22nd-25th in the league, which sucks for a different set of reasons but it actually is HARD to be this bad.
