There are exceedingly few players to have ever hit 50 goals for the first time in their career at 27 or older and Milan Hejduk is the only one that played in this era to do so. So, no.
Nice to ignore the only other player to hit 60 in the last 20 years.Matthews hitting 40 as a rookie and on pace for 45 this year, with negligible powerplay production, makes me think he has at least one 50g campaign in him. Laine is the best shooter the league has seen since Ovi himself and I think he's more likely than not to hit 50 as well. Otherwise yeah, very difficult thing to do in the modern NHL.

oh nw. i figured you were using an 82 game paceSorry, should've clarified I was using his 82 game pace
Edmonton is or (whatever joke team you root for) has been the toilet of the NHL the past 10 years...Even if he did no one would notice it since he plays in St. Louis.
Sorry, should've clarified I was using his 82 game pace.
?
I was replying to a post that was discussing players other than Ovechkin.
" Laine is the best shooter the league has seen since Ovi himself"
Yeah, thats a lie.
He's in the conversation but I just think people forget Stamkos way too much. No, that's an opinion, and I'd cite his ability to score on unscreened goalies from 35ft out as what I ground it on. Even if you flat disagree, you have to admit he's in the conversation, otherwise you're just being disingenuous.
