Nolan Patrick seems like he's being forgotten about a little more as every day goes by. Is this the season where he breaks out and scores between 50-60 points or further falls toward bust territory?

I think a 40 points in 70-75 games season would be nice progression for 19-20..but ya never know..he could surprise us all.

Define breakout. I don’t think moving down the lineup will all the sudden make him a 25G - 35A - 60P player.

To me, a ‘breakout’ would be Patrick asserting his play more in the Ozone, playing more consistently, and not sticking to the boards.

His previous 2 seasons have averaged 13G - 17.5A - 30.5P. Playing in a suppressed role and accumulating 17/20G - 25/28A - 42-48P is what I would expect. I assume the 42P scenario is more likely given the range I just said... that to me is breaking out.

Even his numbers dipped to 44 in 73 games after Tavares was signed and his role reduced.

True, but he was able to hit the 50+ mark playing behind Matthews and Bozak - though admittedly, i think the Bozak/Kadri role was pretty fluid, as well as Matthews missing some time, promting Kadri to get more than 3C usage..

People get too caught up in labels, though. Patrick's ability to hit the 50+ point plateau will reside solely on his PP placement and/or if PP2 can finally start showing up to games..

big two way C your projecting to get to 75-90 points but not be a superstar. WHAT. can't see him putting up 60 points playing behind G and Hayes either.

don't we all know that NP will break out when Giroux and Voracek start to decline?

This is exactly why you break out ES scoring from PP scoring.
Patrick might get 20 points on PP1 and only 5-10 on PP2, but he'd be exactly the same player.

40+ ES points with plus defense would be a breakout year for me, that would mean we have a legitimate 2C as our 3C.
