So Peter Forsberg holds the Colorado Avalanche single season assist record with 86 assists set back in 1995-96. That also happens to be the Scandinavian record since no other Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian or Danish player has had more than 86 assists in a single season.

Right now Mikko Rantanen has 39 assists in 31 games, which is a pace of 103 assists in a full 82 game season. That would be 17 assists more than Peter Forsberg's best season. So will Mikko Rantanen continue his hot streak and do the impossible and break Peter Forsberg's record? Or will he hit a wall and fall short in the end?

Finland is many times included in Scandinavia nowadays, even if it's not part of the original definition of it. They have this thing called "Norden" here that includes Sweden, Norway, Denmak, Finland and Iceland, but there's no good translation for it into English. I've seen some use the "Nordic countries" but nobody knows what that is. So therefore Scandinavia is often used when they include Finland as well, because it's a better known term internationally. So it doesn't matter if you like it or not, Finland has pretty much squeezed its way into Scandinavia nowadays...

Thought for sure Teemu had hit 70 assists at one point... but career high was 68. Either way, very exciting season for Mikko!

I was sure Kurri hit it in his best year eith 135 points. But no, he only got 64. Surprised that Selanne had higher assist peak.

"Norden" actually consists of the 5 countries mentiones( Nowadays) + Faeroye Islands, Åland islands and Greenland. "Swedes with a hot potatoe in their mouths""(Denmark), "We werent liked in Norway"(Iceland) and "The land full of Pimples"(Finland) arent IMO original Scandinavia. Its only the large peninsula where Norway+Sweden are located.

I believe he'll get 75-80 assists if he stays healthy. Malkin finished with 78 in his 3rd season after having 39 assists in his first 31 games.

Fennoscandia or Nordic countries is the correct term.
