Why Getzlaf over Perry?

Yeah the only reason Perry has the Hart while Getzlaf doesn’t is because in their respective best years Perry was competing with Daniel Sedin where as Getzlaf was competing with a healthy Crosby.
The year Getzlaf finished 2nd to Malkin for the Hart is the year he developed a sports hernia in the middle of the season IIRC

Both will be in the Hall of Very Good. HOF? I have serious, SERIOUS doubts.

perry has a hart only because Crosby got hurt, Crosby was having a career year until then

getzlaf finished 2nd to Crosby, if Crosby got hurt that year instead getzlaf would have the hart

getzlaf is much better

They've both had good careers but Getzlaf has stayed more consistent than Perry in recent yrs. That said not sure either all Hall of Famers.

Getzlaf clearly has had the better career. Season in and season out it is him who has been better. Better postseason resume too. Simply put, if you are a GM you pick Getzlaf.

Both will get in HOF, Look Perry has such a nice career that only by achievements he needs to go in...all what was written here + Perry joins Scott Niedermayer as only the second player ever to win six different hockey championships

you just can't deny what has this guy achieved.

How is this a question? Getzlaf has scored better, he's a much better all-around player, he's a center, he's a captain and he seems to have far better longevity.

Exactly.

Getz may be better but Perry has accomplished everything possible. He's also been a key cog in all the championships hes won, sure he's regressed lately but hes had a helluva career. Both will get into the HHOF.

It's not even close...Getlzaf is the better player and plays centre. And he is still putting up a PPG while Perry is fading.

Because Getzlaf has been the consistently elite player which should have more merit then team wins and a single good season?

In my mind, 1 Hart Trophy should not put a clearly and consistently inferior player above the other.

Getzlaf was, is and will be a better hockey player (currently, he's MUCH better) than Corey Perry. Perry's Hart doesn't change that.

It's recency bias. Perry isn't as good as Getzlaf currently.

Perry definitely has a HoF career. The Hart Trophy seals it.

People at HFBoards are also incredibly obsessed by points.
