Stop doing that, I have seriously never heard ANYBODY from Minnesota use this term in my life. I think I've used it a few times here and there and it made me feel like an idiot after.

But seriously people that aren't from Minnesota.. knock it off.

It originates in ignorance.

I've stated before that I grew up in Iowa...

Well, Iowans sometimes refer to Minn-eh-soh-tah as Minn-ee-soh-tuh. However, they also refer to Minn-eeh-app-oh-less correctly. The ignorance comes in because they refer to the state with the same beginning as our largest city.

So a note to all other team fans;
It's the Minn-eh-soh-tah Wild. Not the Minn-eeh Wild.

Don't act like you are from Iowa. Pronounce it correctly.

Nails on a chalkboard to me...

I'm just going to start arbitrarily adding -y to every city/state that does it to us.

Among others, Calgary is going to be tough...

See the problem with the Twins commercial is that it is referencing Minneapolis rather than Minnesota. So which is Minnie actually supposed to be short for?

But yeah, until I moved I never had heard it. But apparently everyone elsewhere uses it much like no one in Philadelphia says Philly or Indianapolis says Indy.

Nah, Callie's easy.

From now on, in any trade proposal, I will refer to the following teams as:
Western Conference:
Edmonton = Eddy
Vancouver = Vanny
Calgary = Callie
Colorado = Coly or Denny (or *gasp* the Nordies!)

Dallas = Dally
LA = Angie
Anaheim = Annie
San Jose = Sanny
Phoenix = Pheeny

Chicago = Chiccy
Detroit = Deety
St. Louis = Sainty
Columbus = Collie
Nashville = Nashy

I will dispute Philly on the grounds that they called their baseball team the Phillies.

It's actually amazing that Edmonton fans are stuck in the "Wild play trap" mode since it seems like every game the two teams play someone scores 4 goals.

we could out hit them, out shoot them, out score them and we'd still be the reason the game was "boring". I don't see that changing any time soon.

OK, ok. I like where this is going.

New Jersey = Newy
New York Islanders = one of these two need to be "Yorky", I'm unsure about the other
New York Rangers =
Philadelphia = Philly (I'm uninventive)
Pittsburgh = Pitty (haha! puns...)

Boston = Bossy(?)
Buffalo = Buffy (too easy)
Montreal = Monty (ditto)
Ottawa = I've already been saying Otty
Toronto = Onty (think Aunty)

Atlanta = Lanty
Carolina = Liny
Florida = Flory
Tampa Bay = Tampy
Washington = DCY (said, not spelled out?)

I suck at this, but I like where this is heading.

think Washy could work since the state doesn't have a team and its the Washington Capitals. DeeCee what you're going for?

You have a long name, so it's shortened by lazies. Just like Philly.
