Selected by Los Angeles Kings round 3 #76 overall 1998 NHL Entry Draft
The Russian might be the best to ever strap on the pads in tournament history. At the 1999 WJC he set a record with a 215:09 shutout streak en route to winning a gold medal. His 1.42 goals-against average is the best all-time, and his nine wins are tied for third. He also helped Russia win a silver medal in 2000.

But why didnt he ever play an NHL game? Couldnt the Kings get him signed or what? He is in the KHL now.

He did sign with LA...he played in their farm system and basically blew...than he went back to Russia and hes carved out a nice career.

I watched him play with Halifax in his 2 seasons here...and even though he posted nice numbers...he was inconsistent.

Agreed. He's not bad, but there are way better goalies than him in Russia nowadays
