I said Gardiner only because we have Reilly. Franson is too valuable on the PP with that quick shot that seems to get through, he's also become a little more physical.

tough call though.

I will not vote for now.

However, if the return was exceptional, I'd consider trading either player.

Gardiner would probably fetch more bounty than Franson.

I'd easily trade Franson first (obviously depends on the return though.... If we could trade Gardiner for a good return but could only get a 2nd for Franson I'd obviously trade Gardiner and keep Franson... If the returns are anywhere close, I'd move Franson)

Reasons:
1. Gardiner is much more dominant with the puck, he can skate out of trouble and move the puck very well.

2. Franson's points seem to be by shooting it toward net and getting tips on the PP (for the most part)... he doesn't seem to put up many points not on the PP.

3. Franson's defensive game is atrocious (yes, worse than Gardiner's). At least Gardiner can get back into position, Franson pinches all the time and can never get back to cover or help his partner.

Franson. Gardiner has elite PMD skills and offensive acumen. His speed also allows him to make up for the mistakes he may make taking chances.

If Franson gets beat, hes not catching up. Hes got the big shot but that can be replaced by a PP third pairing specialist if need be.

Gardiner because we can replace him with Rielly. We lose Franson then we have no more right shot D men and hes big too.

I'd trade franny over gards
Franson- Great pp shot, big, can be physical (at times), good stick reach, More experienced
Gards- Elite skater (makes the opposition look soo bad), Good shot, speedy, puck skills, Higher ceiling.

One knock on gardiner is i hate when he does that fake shot, and takes to long after to dish the puck out. It seems like he REALLY wants to shoot the puck but forces himself not to. Just fire them on net man!

Gardiner would fetch a better return than Franson no doubt. I don't mind if the Leafs dealt Franson for futures considering he's UFA, but I'd only be satisfied trading Gardiner if we swapped for a young RHD of similar talent or packaged him for a significant piece.

Franson. I feel jake is just plain and simply better. To top it off, franson is a headache off the ice. He'll be looking for some ridiculous contract again.

Gardiner>Franson

Although i think we need to trade Gardiner for a top 6 C in my ideal world but if we got the same return trade Franson, gardiners speed just cant be matched. Franson is big and can knock people down and has a nice shot but ill take Gardiners speed and puck mobility over him anyday.

I'm surprised the Gardiner honeymoon has lasted so long. I'd much rather keep Franson.

Franson plays defense? What? I thought he was a forward who was virtually never in position.

I'd rather move Gards.

He can get us the RHD we need to pair with Rielly (or Dion).

Franson can stay on our 3rd pairing with Fraser and will play better with less ES minutes. Less ES minutes will lead to more palatable contract demands from Franson.

Franson is still a RFA next year :D

Franson.

First off, we get what we pay for in Gardiner($1M) and I see a good number 3 pp guy there who can be taught defense. Franson is more of a weird one trick pony and may not even be a top 4 dman except he helps your PP. To keep a guy because he is the only right handed shot, meh. Nonnis has to make some room to do trades and Gardiner isn't even paid that much, whereas Franson may see himself as a $3.5M to
$4M player. It has to be Franson moving on unless someone offer us something stupid for Gardiner.
