I have a list of Top 5 Goaltenders who not come from North America or Russia.

1.Dominik Hasek , he was the best when he was active and one of the best Ever for sure, but he is lead that list mostly because of his SC wins.

2."The King" Henrik Lundqvist, oh man give him a cup. Olympic Gold Medal. Legend.

3.Olaf Koelzig , sorry for him that he never win the cup Ovechkin was to late on the same team, he would derserve that. 1 x Vezina Trophy.

4.Mikka Kiprusoff, Falmes Legend, a lot of good games but sometimes he played without a defens in front of him.

5.Pekka Rinne, 2 Times World Cup MVP , so close on the cup with a 93% save percentage in the Po's 16/17.

I don't get why Russians need to be excluded, this isn't a position that they are the best in Europe historically (maybe now).

Bob is the only contender for the top 5 among those that played in NHL.

You put Hasek on top mostly because of his SC wins? I don't see it. He has one cup where he was the starter. I have him on top as well but not because of that.

even if you take away the Cups, Hasek is still leaps and bounds ahead of anyone not named Roy

Good catch!

And to the other posters: This is obviously an NHL only list, hence no Tretiak. And the asterisk next to Kölzig, is as you might have guessed, because he wasn't a product of any european hockey system; grew up across Canada and played junior in the dub.

Lindbergh must be the only NHL star who died in his prime. I suspect if he had lived to compete for more Vezinas Sweden would have produced more goalies.

Cechmanek is probably the worst goalie of all time

He certainly crashed and burned, but the guy had a high peak. Finished twice in the top-ten for vezina voting (including a 2nd place finish!). So he makes the list.

you're definitely right. My opinion on Cechmanek was formed around the ripe age of about 11. Not saying it was formed correctly. I never looked up his stats before but yeah he had 2 pretty good seasons.
