If the draft wasn't in Montreal we wouldn't have this discussion.
But it is in Montreal and this opportunity is once in a lifetime these days.....so something tells me they will make a show out of it.

There's 2 x 1st round pick but the very 1st overall pick got all the attention.

Will they go boring and go with the GM who's not really a fans of the spotlight and not 100% in french, although it's hard to beat Bergevin with: ''Le Canadiens est fièere de sélecter". Will they get one of the legend the new administration is trying to bring back.....Will they give the honor to Machabée to kind of say sorry for last year's pick? Is Lapointe the guy replacing Timmins?

Carey Price should pass the torch. that would be classy, but I bet it will be Caulfield or Suzi... which will be fine too...

It could be if they do it as a tandem with someone else, cause I don't want to see the drama if the Habs announce their pick only in english in Montreal

It’s going to be Martin Lapointe after Hughes does the usual intro.

What a lack of respect for Road Runner Yvan Cournoyer in this thread

The man is condemned to forever live in the shadows, because his peak was in-between the 1960's and 1970's dynasties and Béliveau/Lafleur, during the 1971 and 1973 Stanley Cup championships.

The 1973 Conn Smythe winner.

He should be the one to select the next (hopefully) franchise player.

No disrespect to him, but he really has no connection with the current team. They can and will honour him in other ways.

Well....he's my vote too.

I see Kent Hugues making the second 1st round selection but the first overall would go to someone special and Cournoyer seems like a good choice.

He was the 1973 Conn Smythe winner, when Béliveau was retired and Lafleur was not yet Lafleur.

He should be the one to select the next (hopefully) franchise player.
Where do you see a lack of respect ?? Where talking about announcing a pick in 2022, normal most of see the GM annonce it...

Cournoyer should be leading this poll.

Lafleur's death should make us cherish him more. He was an unbelievable player!

But why ? new management will announce this pick and it's totally fine

If Cournoyer/Suzuki or whatever want to annonce the CGY pick, no problem with that but I don't see where there is a lack of respect for Cournoyer
If the GM wants to do it, that's fine, it's standard practice. I'm talking about the fans in here. They have no soul.
