Great insight. Take your own advice
Matthews is not even close to being a powerplay specialist.

Are you saying that’s not a good thing, most great players are really good on the power play.Matthews is not even close to being a powerplay specialist.
First of all I was asking a question so I didn’t put any words in anyone’s mouth, secondly you do realize how you responded makes it sound exactly like that’s what you meant right?
Your question got me curious so I looked it up.Again, tell me a player that scores more on the pp than 5v5? You’re making a point that not a single person disagrees with.
I’ve already said that post was ridiculous.Your question got me curious so I looked it up.
A quick look at the top 10 power play goal scorers has Andreychuck at #1 just under 43%.
Number 10 was Ciccarelli at 38%.
Ovie just for fun is at 36% (#3 all time and climbing)
Auston Matthews 24.5 %
I think you can laugh that powerplay specialist guy out of here.

He's literally 2nd in the league in even strength points (1 behind McDavid for first)Matthews is a PP specialist
If you suck on the pp you suck period. The term "powerplay specialist" is sometimes used to imply that a player pads their stats with the man advantage, and isn't as strong in 5 on 5 situations. I'm just pointing out that Matthews is one of the most effective 5 on 5 players out there, and his offensive production does not rely on the PP. Only about one quarter of his career points have come off the powerplay, which is less than most of his peers.
Since Matthews rookie season he ranks 1st with 118 5v5 goals scored. The term "powerplay specialist" is sometimes used to imply that a player pads their stats with the man advantage, and isn't as strong in 5 on 5 situations. I'm aware, I'm a Leaf fan.A big reason why he has a low percentage of his points there has pretty much entirely to do with his amount of ice time there. He's an evens strength beast but look up his powerplay time compared to other top scorers since he's been in the NHL.
I highly doubt Eichel will be able to do something like that because of Matthews lead over him in goal scoring. If Eichel (2 goals in 12 games) ends up with more goals than Matthews (13 goals in 15 games) that would be one of the best 44 game streaks of all time.
uhhh... did you mean the other way around?Eichel more goals matthews more points
After tonight's game Matthews goal total increased to 14.uhhh... did you mean the other way around?
