WAshtbthat perlini from Arizona? Could be way off but I thought so
Yup it was Perlini. His dad also had a brief stint with the Leafs before going legend mode in the English league.

I like to imagine he just got really bored, so he went to that league, and bounced around from team to team to keep himself busy.
You get a 150 point player
And you get a 150 point player
And you get a 150 point player!
The Gretzky of English hockey is Tony Hand.

Okay wtf, did this league not have goalies or something?

Yeah those are some crazy numbers. I looked up his 2nd season in BHL, he had 176 pts in 35 games and was only 5th in scoring, leader Scott Morrison had 224 pts.
Kevin Conway. 148 goals in 29 games.Yeah those are some crazy numbers. I looked up his 2nd season in BHL, he had 176 pts in 35 games and was only 5th in scoring, leader Scott Morrison had 224 pts.
Yep, I started watching hockey (the Southampton Vikings) in the late '70s and scores of 30 - 5 were common. Also, we were disappointed if there weren't at least three or four fights a game.I’m from the Uk. In the 80’s in particular any imports that couldn’t score 5 points per game got canned. No joke. I’m in BRACKNELL where the team record is 13+9 in a single game, held by Darin Fridgen. So yeah lots of scoring. Fred Perlini was one of the better import players but he was far from the best.
I hate Tony Hand, I really do, but boy could he play. Lots of ex NHL players that came over were no where near as good. He was the Uk Gretzky for sure, just not as endearing. I should add that I’ve never met him so he may well be a top guy. One year iirc he had 252 points.
In the Super League era when it was mostly AHL players and fringe NHL guys he was well into his 30s and still a top player.
He had NHL skills but it was NHL or bust. He was 18 and didn’t want to play in the minors. Glen Sather rated him highly and said he had the highest IQ of anyone at Oilers camp bar Gretzky.
He played into his 50s I think. By then I no longer followed uk hockey so I’m not certain.
