I'm asking who is the best Sabre all-time whose last name started with the letter "H"? This is for their time with the Sabres, and I'm arbitrarily selecting a 75 game minimum as a Sabre.

Remember, this is all-time and includes every season since the beginning of the franchise - not just the recent ones.

Of course, I'll run through the rest of the alphabet up until the regular season starts.

Results so far:

A: Dave Andreychuk 91.2%
B: Danny Briere 73.1%
C: Brian Campbell 50.6%
D: Rasmus Dahlin 66.3%
E: Jack Eichel 48.1%
F: Mike Foligno 93.2%
G: Danny Gare 94.5%

Let the voting begin!

There should be a run-off poll for #2. Hawerchuk, Housley, Hajt, and Hecht form a very solid 2-5 for us. I assume Hawerchuk would win, but it would be interesting to see how much the long runs for Hajt and Hecht give them a boost, Hecht gets the recency bias, and Housley's slightly longer tenure (but disastrous stint as coach) affect him in comparison with Dale. Dale should still win it of course.

Voted Hasek, but Housley was no joke as a player. Neither was Hawerchuk.

I second the idea of another poll for "H". Housley vs Hawerchuk would be interesting to see.

Mike Hartman getting short end of the stick in the too much competition in the “H” department

Hasek may be the greatest player in NHL history that started with an “H.”

although Howe was pretty good …,

Gordie Howe is in the top 3. Hasek top 10 for sure.

Hasek is going to win and should win but there are FOUR Hockey Hall of Fame players on that list, not to mention Bill Hajt who might be the most underrated Sabre of all time - plus Hannan and Hecht.

Some of the all-time greatest Sabres on this list - Hawerchuk, Housley, Hajt..But can't argue with one of the greatest players of all-time.

Once we get through the alphabet, we can re-start at A for second best players

Hasek is all world, and we were lucky enough to have him for a good while.

HM - Hawerchuk and Housley.

I voted for Hasek, but I think Hawerchuck might be the most underrated, overlooked Sabre ever. I was a big fan of Hecht and really appreciated Hajt. But Housley? Nope. Never liked him and the first thing that pops in my head when I hear his name is stork

Hasek of course, with Housley as a distant but clear #2. I'm surprised at how many here prefer Hawerchuk. The Sabres dropped significantly in the standings after the trade.

Bill Hajt was a good, underrated defenceman.

Everyone’s already said it but I’ll say it again. Hajt is super underrated and had an incredible run for a decade and a half. I almost wanted to vote for him because he was only a Sabre his whole career and did it at a high level for so long.

But then again, its Hasek. Even a contrarian instinct can’t persuade me otherwise.

Hasek is the second best player to ever touch an ice surface.

easy H

related I just found a Hockey News Top 100 players of all time from around the time Crosby was drafted, the editor wrote an afterward where he argued that Hasek is the greatest hockey player of all time. Both Gretzky and Hasek dominated the sport for the better part of a decade and were a top 5 option for the remainder of their careers. Hasek did it in an era with some of the greatest goaltenders ever to take the ice. Roy was the second best goalie and Hasek's save% was .930 vs Roy's .915.
