What happened with Cannata? Geez, all it takes for our prospect's rep to drop is making the AHL...

hes a goaltender

That didn't stop Lack and Eriksson going in the top 10. Cannata had good numbers in college, and decent numbers for his first year in pro. I wouldn't put him this far behind Eriksson, but I would have Eriksson and Cannata close to each other in the low teens, not Eriksson at 8th.

So where would we put the players selected on the hockey's future scale? Something like this?

2. Hunter Shinkaruk 8C
3. Frank Corrado 7B
4. Nicklas Jensen 8C
5. Brendan Gaunce 7B
6. Jordan Schroeder 7B
7. Eddie Lack 7B
8. Joacim Eriksson 7C
9. Alexandre Mallet 6.5C
10. Ben Hutton 6C
11. Henrik Tommernes 6.5C

True, but they shouldn't have gone there

My thoughts above.

You don't think Horvat will top out as a 1st liner, just a really good second liner? You think he has the same ceiling as Jensen, although more likely to reach that potential? You have Shinkaruk with a higher ceiling, and as the only potential 1st liner in the system? I've got to disagree on this one. There's a reason Horvat went that high in the draft.

Just a reminder of how their rankings work:

9. Elite Talent
8. First-Line Forward/ No. 2 Defenseman / No. 1 Goaltender
7. Second-Line Forward/ No. 3-4 Defenseman / Journeyman No. 1 Goaltender
6. Third-Line Forward/ No. 5-6 Defenseman / Backup Goaltender
5. Fourth line forward / No. 7 defenseman / depth goaltender
4. Top minor league forward / defenseman / goaltender
3. Average minor league forward / defenseman / goaltender
2. Minor league role-player
1. Borderline minor league player

A – All but guaranteed to reach potential
B – Should reach potential, could drop 1 rating
C – May reach potential, could drop 2 ratings
D – Unlikely to reach potential, could drop 3 ratings
F – A player possessing little potential

It is getting difficult now but went with Andersson. Really wanted to put McNally ahead of this and my #11 pick but his absence for critical development years makes it hard.

Next will be Cannata, Blomstrand or McNally. Argh!

The reason Horvat went that high is because his floor is high, while his ceiling still brings top6 potential. It's not because his ceiling is as an auto 1st liner.

I agree with Stringer's ranking.

Bingo. Guys who think Horvat has top 1st line potential are expecting way too much and are going to be set up for disappointment.
He's a pretty safe pick, hence why he was taken instead of Nichushkin.
