Who is the Best Sabre to Ever Wear the # 18?

I figured with the hockey summer doldrums upon us, I'd run a poll each day on who people think is the best Sabre to ever wear a particular number.

There are 11 players who wore #18 at least once. But to narrow it down, I'm only going to consider those who wore the number at least a full season for a reasonable number of games. Sorry Paul Terbenche and Bob Halkidis. Tim Connolly was #18 until he switched it to #19 for Gare's jersey retirement ceremony so he's in at #19. Miroslav Satan barely wore #18 until he decided to go back to #81.

Only consider how that player played while with the Sabres - so, not their NHL career in general.

I'll stick to the main numbers for which players are known.

I obviously am a big Snuggerud fan. Just played a solid game and was good defensively - and he looked cool - very Mel Gibson/Trevor Rabin-esque.

100%. My dad was the biggest Rick Martin fan and he said he never saw anyone else shoot the puck like Martin until Cyr that night. We really thought he was going to be special.

FWIW, Danny Gare set the NHL record for most combined goals in first 2 seasons of a career (30+50=80) until it was broken by Mike Bossy a couple years later.

Yeah. We had the same feeling about Cyr. Don't know if it was expectations set too high or what. Turned out to be quite a disappointment..........
