So far the list is
1) Ovechkin
2) Laine

The last thread generated a lot of discussion and Laine received the majority of the votes (over 70%, 2nd place got 16% and 3rd 4%). People wanted one for the 3rd best scorer so here it is.

I'm going to vote McDavid, maybe he is not there just quite yet but i think he and Laine will have many many Rocket Richard races in the coming years.

wait you meant to say matthews right?

Mcdavid: 13 goals in 25 games (0.427g/gm career)
Matthews: 12 goals in 12 games (0.551g/gm career)

0.124 g/gm works out to 10 more per 82 game season for AM34

its ok, mcdavid doesnt have to be the best at everything

Man, it's a shame how much Stamkos has fallen off goal scoring wise. Gotta be Matthews here.

I voted Matthews but how does Kucherov only have 6 votes? He maintains a 14+% shooting easy. A lot of his shots come from quite the distance too.

Outside of Stamkos, who has zero votes, he's been the least productive over the last year and a 1/3

I think people are forgetting about MacKinnon. Not for here since it should be Matthews, but he has the 4th highest GPG over the last season and a 1/3 at 0.57 (after Ovechkin, Matthews and Laine).

I voted Pastrnak. I feel he's the best atm out of this group, Matthews/MacKinnon are close behind though. McDavid has the potential to get up to these guys level in goals as well. I think he's a better goal scorer than his current tally hints to.

He only scored 29 last season. But I could see him in someone's top-5.

Yeah but he won the rocket the year prior, scored a bunch in the playoffs too last season, and has a pretty decent amount of goals per game so far this season.

Crosby has the same problem as Lemieux and Gretzky had (and McDavid too). Playmaker vs goal-scorer - he does both, and some years he scores more goals, some less, but his points normally remain consistent.

I think if the end all be all objective for each individual player in the NHL this year was to score goals and it's what they concentrated on - Crosby would be among the best. Considering the question is "best" goal-scorers, i don't think that's irrelevant

Matthews for me. Barring injury he could be number one. As it is he's scored 13 goals in 13 games this year.
