Offense or "two-way" doesn't matter for this, just pick your top 5 for forwards who excelled the most at the defensive aspects of the game.
Clarke #1Gainey
Carbo
Nighbor
Bergeron
Datsyuk
Tikkanen should be in there
Could only include 32 spots. Just went with trying to cover every era and what I though most people would vote.Zetterberg was a better defensive player than Datsyuk
if Im putting emphasis on the offense, then yes. Im putting more emphasis on D.Clarke #1
Good question. I went with Clarke, Jere, Pavel, Bergeron, and Rod the Bod.
I like Madden on the list too. Mike Fisher could make a case.
As a Canes fan, Brindy did so many things that go unnoticed and defensively he was so tough to play against.
Ramsay deserves more than 2 votes
Selke voting:
Gainey 1,1,1,1,2,6,6,9,9
Carbo 1,1,1,2,2,3,4,4,5
Bergeron 1,1,1,1,2,2,3,3,4,5
Datsyuk 1,1,1,3,3,3,5,9
Ramsay 1,2,2,2,3,3,5,7

I agree, but that goes for any sport... and we'll say the same in another 30+ years.I have so much more respect for the modern guys. The way the game has evolved with scouting, video, systems and speed make it so tough to shut someone down.
