I think you're mistaken. The 'Woman's Hockey League' and a bunch of others amalgamated into one single organization called the "Proffessional Woman's Hockey League". It's good Hockey, you should tune in sometime.

I had no idea who the Portland Winterhawks, the PWHL or the WHL are but after a four second Wikipedia search, I'm sorry to report that they are actually not the same at all.



I've also never heard of the PWHL but hockey is hockey and I'm a firm believer that if it exists in any form, watch it!

To the best of my knowledge, there was never a "Women's Hockey League". The PWHL's predecessors were the CWHL and PHF - both of which had previously been known as or otherwise succeeded a NWHL.

There probably would have been a Women’s Hockey League at some point, but the name WHL has been attached to various men’s leagues for a really really long time.
