Laf, a bit more of a slam dunk.

I'm checking the hypometer and it's giving a 9/10 reading. Not as high as the McDavid draft but similar to Matthews, Hall & Tavares.

Yakupov/Hughes/Hischier/Ekblad/Stamkos/MacKinnon were around an 8/10 hype-wise.

Honestly, I would say about the same amount. Consensus #1OA but not slam dunk, like Stamkos, Kane, McDavid, Matthews.

Bored so I'll make a tier list. I was into the NHL from 2001-2004 but didn't follow the lottery/draft much. Mostly cause the Leafs never had draft picks.

Note- this is not based on how good they are, just in terms of hype from my POV

Hughes would be in group 4. Laf in group 3.

I largely agree with this, but I would put Dahlin with Tavares personally.

Tavares was Crosby/McDavid lite for me. He was hyped since he was 15 like them. I almost wanted to put him in tier 1 but he trailed off heading to the draft a bit.

I just see Dahlin as ahead of those other guys on his tier. He was hyped up to be a potential generational defenseman, whereas those other players weren't. If he has to have his own tier below Tavares then so be it.

Laf 100%. He didn't disappoint in his draft year like Yak did. Yak had an amazing 16yr old season but stumbled in his draft year.
