This thread has come the day after I realized how good of a season Draisaitl has had. I have followed his hockey path since he first came over to North America and played in Prince Albert. But for whatever reason this year I haven't followed him much and honestly have almost forgotten about him(probably due to the McDavidmania in Edmonton and maybe this insane Calder race that's going on???)

Anyways, he has been unreal this year and I was shocked the other day when I heard he was 11th in league scoring(10th now).

what other stats or anything have shocked you this season once you realized/heard?

Jake Gardiner's +/- compared to the rest of the Leafs in particular Morgan Rielly.

A 45 point swing is pretty nuts in this NHL

Have to know where to look for this one, but Jeff Carter hasn't scored a goal with a goalie in the net in the last 18 games, dating back to Feb 9th, which was the last game before the Kings bye week.

Rakell only 1 ES goal behind Crosby for the league lead. Grabner only 2 behind.

Detroit is 26th in GF, and 17th in 5v5 goals, but old man Zetterberg is 4th in the league in ES assists, and 8th in ES points.

Jimmy Hayes. Knew he had one goal in his 54 games this season, but was bowled over with shock when I saw he had another one as well.

Mark Giordano's +/- is pretty crazy compared to T.J. Brodie's as well. A 43 goal difference.

He doesn't have more points than Ovechkin but it's close.

I think he just got 61, but I could be wrong. Im not going to go with a wings player because I've been following them all season.
I'll go arvidsson. Never heard of him then boom, he's killing it

I have to say, I didn't expect Laine to be this good in his first NHL season.

This one was not unknown to me, but still shocking to see:

Mika Zibanejad, #6ov 2011:
2016-17 New York Rangers NHL 48gp 11g 18a 29pts

Mark Scheifele, #7ov 2011
2016-17 Winnipeg Jets NHL 71gp 29g 46a 75pts

Sean Couturier, #8ov 2011
2016-17 Philadelphia Flyers NHL 57gp 12g 15a 27pts

Couturier + Zibanejad: 105gp 23g 33a 56pts
Scheifele: 71gp 29g 46a 75pts

pretty wild, mostly as a testament to how consistently great Scheifele has been

Definitely Zetterberg for me. Would have thought with the horrible season Detroit was having he might have 40 points, until i saw he had 45 assists and 61 points. Getzlaf is another one. Would have guessed he was on pace for around 60 points (especially with the horrible season Perry is having). Was just looking at the scoring leaders and saw he had 66 in 63.
