If this belongs in History, apologies, please move it.

First guess for me is Leafs, does anyone know the answer?

Leafs lose to finalists often lately

2013 Bruins, 2019 Bruins, 2021 Habs, 2022 Lightning., 2023 Panthers. Those have been basically ECF tier matchups
2009 Red Wings*, 2017 Penguins, 2018 Capitals, 2019 Bruins*, 2020 Lightning. Asterisk indicates finalists; the rest are actual Cup winners. Literally the only time in the Jackets' franchise history they've made the playoffs and not gone up against the eventual Stanley Cup winner or finalist was in 2014; the Penguins that year fell to the eventual finalist Rangers in the second round. That was also the first year the Jackets ever won a playoff game.

Can’t beat the Bruins, but the Capitals have lost 8 times to the eventual Champion in 32 playoff appearances, starting with a loss against a decent Islanders team. Just noticed only the 94 Rangers is not a dynasty / era team - Islanders, Red Wings were historically good teams and then Lemieux and Crosby Penguins.

82-83 Islanders

90-91 Penguins

91-92; Penguins

93-94 Rangers

97-98 Red Wings

08-09 Penguins

15-16 Penguins

16-17 Penguins

My guess would probably be Boston, since they seemed to face the Habs more than anyone else.

Having said that, I only know that they played each other alot in the playoffs after the original expansion. I'm not sure how it was during the O6 era.
