Pick whatever team you wish. Which 5 players (3 forwards,2 defense, 1 goalie) would you pick to put on the ice together. Any era, as long as they played at least one game for the team you are picking for. Oh and pretend they are in their prime(Orr doing in chicago, what he did in boston).??????

Mine would be Boston

Wing-Buyck
Wing-Neely
Center-P.Esposito
All over 6' tall, high scoring .

Defense-Bourque
Defense-Orr
Quick rushing, still good in their own zone.

Goalie- Tiny Thompson
The only Bruins goalie to win the vezina 4 times
OR
since they can be picked as if the were in their prime maybe Terry Sawchuk.

That team would kill any other team.

Fedorov - Yzerman - Howe (Nice blend of skill, speed, scoring, defense, and elbows lol)
Lidstrom - Chelios (There are a ton more options but these compliment each other nicely)
Hasek (At his peak he's scary)

If Detroit can try and claim Hasek in his prime, Vancouver can get these guys in their prime:

Canucks

Mogilny-Larionov-Bure
Lidster - Snepts
"King" Brodeur

GM: Pat Quinn
coach: Roger Neilson

LW-Messier (made the all star team as LW before switch to C)
C-Gretzky
RW-Kurri
D-Coffey
D-Lowe
G-Ranford in 1990, otherwise Fuhr

I think both lines of Montreal and Detroit would have been hellua scary with those players in their primes. Imagine Hasek on a kick ass team when he was on fire.

At their peaks the Blues would have had a scary top five

Hull - Gretzky - Tkachuk
MacInnis - Stevens (wow who would have thought thebest blues at their peak would not have Pronger)
Plante

I'd take Shanahan over Tkachuk.

At their prime ? Shanahan's output (87 point's) was nowhere near Tkachuk's (98 points)

Dickie Moore won the Art Ross twice, and probably would have won the Smythe a couple of times too if they'd given it out in his prime.

Interesting idea....

Neely - Linden - Bertuzzi would be nasty to play against, all in their primes.

or: Naslund - anyone - Bure.... :)

Shanahan has the Blues record for goals and points by a LW - 93/94 - 52g 50a - 102 pts, plus he shows up in the playoffs.

And I forgot all about Moore.

I do believe Shanny is one of only two or three players to ever have 50 goals 100 points and 200 PIMs in a season. Kevin Stevens was another for sure. That's a hell of a power forward season.

Agreed for the most part. Or alternately:

Mogilny-Messier-Bure
Ohlund-Snepts
Brodeur

assuming messier is in his prime.

There should be some sort of minimum for games played in uniform, or something. Gretzky was not one of St. Louis' greatest players.

neely, Schmidt, andreychuk
buffalo - perrault, lafontaine, andreychuk

winnipeg/phoneix-bobby hull, selanne, hawerchuk

Hull-Hawerchuk-Selanne up front

I'll stop there :) The best I can do on defence is Carlyle & Housley. Khabibulin in goal.
