I know they have a three year window, but the next two drafts are pretty deep.
I say they forfeit in '13 if they know they will be better....
and if they do this year how will this affect the mock drafts around the world

I think it will all depend on finish in a season.

Team finishes top 10 (in points, this gets them a bottom 20 pick) then they will forfeit it no matter what draft.

They wont forfeit it this year

Even if they win the cup next year, i doubt they forfeit. its supposed to be 2003 in depth, which no matter where you pick, should be good.

Id say 2013 they forfeit

I think they should forfeit their first-round pick every year... but as someone who has been a fan of the St. Louis Blues since their creation, and who spent his teenage years in Denver rooting for the Colorado Rockies, I may be a little biased.

No GM (even Lou) will ever give up a 1st rounder if they can give it up the following year instead. And if they can give it up 2-3 years down the line, you can bet that's exactly what they'd do. Because there's no guarantee they'll even still be the GM 2 years from now.
