yah but he's a second liner on a cup contender....

:sarcasm:

edit: or maybe i should say "just not good enough to get it done, you can't compete for a cup with him" as that seems to be general thought about this core. If top 3 five years in a row isn't good enough, why do we even bother playing a season as you clearly need to have only top 2 players across your main positions to be a real challenger (IE: 2/3 teams every year).

this really harms the narrative I sometimes read about the Jets not having elite players.

Indeed. If Wheeler doesn't represent an elite player at wing, I really question the use of that term and if it's being conflated with "generational player". Only generational winger in the game (IMO) is Ovechkin.

Meh. He's OK.

:sarcasm:

If Wheels and Buff aren't elite, then I think I need to adjust my definition of elite. I agree with you Hank: generational are guys like Crosby and Ovi (and Gretzky, Lemieux, etc) - players who stand completely apart from those around them.

Holy under rated Batman
Had no idea.
We are fortunate to have him for a while yet.
His intensity has been up a notch this whole season.
My recollection is that he starts slow usually didn't seem to happen this year

I think the slow start has been gone for a while. Most scorers are streaky. He had a couple of cold streaks early in the season and somebody hung that label on him. Actually I thinkhe is more consistent than most. Fewer andshallower slumps but still some.

Seriously cheap at 5.8 mil too.

Rarely do I read a post and just look at it and smile. Great post. Thanks for not trying to muck it all up with fancy stats.
