Well, the common background link between Barky and Laine is hovering above the Tappara/Tampere Finland originated duo. There is no denying for that. It is a kinda more subtle implicit and muted version of the duel between the two top draft picks of Matthews and Laine for those acknowledgeable or aware about Finnish hockey to some extent.
The striking fact of teen aged Laine shadowing an "established' Barky at the moment cannot be passed by in complete silence as if it were not striking.
It is also a bit like the case between Crosby and McJesus what comes to the current state of Finnish hockey. The pecking order is this now: First Laine, then Barky; then the rest of the bulk. Like it or not.
Not a hype thread of Laine but an expression and index of a genuine bafflement what is wrong with Sasha. Did he already give up the fight?

No doubt Barkov will turn it around but in general a decrease from last year's production should be expected unless he gets better. His line wasn't going to shoot a ridiculous percentage again, especially Jagr. Huberdeau being out doesn't help either.
