He'd be in the convo with Lundqvist and Price had he stayed. Now he's one foot out the door of the NHL.

in what world......?

He played 64 games (regular season + playoffs combined) as a blackhawk with a .910 save%

Where are you drawing this conclusion from? Niemi improved quite a bit after he left the blackhawks. This "terrible season"

His .908 save% over 65 games as a star is quite comparable to his time in Chicago. And his 297 games in SJ were better than either.

Picked up yet another loser point tonight - their seventh of the season - and now sit eight full games below .500.

13 wins in 34 games.

Last season, their record after 34 games was 25-7-2.

Their inability to look even half-competent at 3-on-3 has cost them greatly. Hell, if it wasn't for the league's policy of rewarding teams that go on to lose in overtime, they'd be a bottom-five team instead of floating just two points out of a wildcard spot.

It would be a sorry state of affairs if this team ended up making the playoffs by virtue of those loser points, too. Especially if it comes at the expense of a better team with more wins. Right now, that would be Winnipeg and Vancouver, both with more wins than Dallas yet behind them in the standings.

I'm still hopeful that the Stars' management will see past their current spot in the standings and realize that the team is in much worse shape than even their most critical fans expected this season. Maybe then we'll see some signs of life, in the form of a trade, or coaching change. Anything but this radio silence. :help:

Like night and day compared to how well the team played last season. It really is mind-blowing how inferior this season's version of the Dallas Stars has become.
