Never forget 2007.. RDS was so upset with the Habs taking two Americans in the first round and ignored PK Subban.. Their headline after day two of the draft "Bienvenue a Montreal, Olivier Fortier".

He's in law school right now (I think at Sherbrooke) and planning to become an agent. He's helping out with player development with his old agent, Christian Daigle (same agent as Michael Bournival and Morgan Ellis), over at Momentum Hockey.

It's unfortunate that injuries decimated his career, but luckily he was always a bright kid.

...Olivier Fortier? I thought he was supposed to be the shutdown guy of the future.

He missed almost a full year and most of another in 08-09 and 09-10 and that seemed to derail his career. Was playing decent in Hamilton a few years back but plateaued it seems...

Injuries kept him from ever getting any kind of momentum. That and questionnable offensive upside at the pro level, combine with less than ideal size. Seamed like a nice kid though, if memory serves he was pretty good at school too, won an award for it in the Q. He's got a good future ahead of him I should hope

He wanted to work for one Ford dealer, but then this other Ford dealer had a pic of Carey Price in their ads, so he wavered.

Ah 2007. Maybe 5 NHL stars outside the top 10 picks out of 200 selections; Habs nabbed 3 of em.

6 if you include the phuture phenom Lars Eller, whom they later traded for.

Let's not mention whatshisface

Well they did made up for it when they officially welcomed PK Game 3 Bos 2013.
I'm sure I remember some grudging remarks on AC.
Took the Coach until game 7.

Wasn't good enough for the NHL. das it
So you are sure of this?

I mean, is it possible that things did not work for him and worked for others.
BTW, St-Louis was not good enough for NHL.
Sometimes everything fall in place for some players and does not for others.

You may be right, but one sentence to resume a life seems pretty simple to me.

But you were a Pro.

Was there a time where you had an opportunity and the guy next to you did not?

I guess you know better than most of us.
Those 17 goals in 50 games were really good.
At that time it was 107th scoring in NHL. Clearly top-6.
4th in Habs in goals and 7th in scoring.

But could you have done better given better conditions?
What was happening with Ribeiro and Koivu?

I am not saying that Fortier would have been a great NHL player.
Just that things can not be simplified in one sentence.

Feel free to correct me.
I do own the truth.
