The Winter Olympics will take place in Feb. 2026.

In your mind what will the Roster look like?
There are so many young players coming up FAST, while older players hold on. If you've read this forum, you know there's a draft window from 2016-2019 where the Canadian players are piss poor, so we need to work around that. There is also the mess from the sexual assault trial. In other words... 2 years away is tough.

P.S. I'm sure there is already a thread for this so.... :)

The team will be anchored by McDavid, McKinnon, Makar, and Bedard. Some interesting choices on the wing and for the rest of the defense. Goaltending will be plug and play. Great coaching and intangibles.

Do McKinnon and McDavid go on the same line or do you split them up?

it’ll be interesting to see what Team Canada will look like 2 years from now. Will management trust the young kids? As of now the only locks I have up front are McDavid, Mack, Bedard’s, Crosby, Marner and Point. Not sure how Marchand, Stone and Stamkos will look like 2 years from now. Johnston, Celebrini, Fantilli, Neighbours, Jarvis, and Byfield are players I would like to see take that next step. Other interesting names include Thomas, Reinhart, Verhaege, Barzal, Horvat, Scheifele, Konecny.

As for the defence, the only locks I have are Makar, Toews, Morrisey and Theodore. The other 4 spots could go to anyone.

P.S. Logan Thompson has been looking great this playoffs for the Knights

This playoff should once and for all eviscerate any talk of Mitch Marner on this team... I don't want to hear his name and the Olympic Team in the same sentence ever again.

Players who disappear during the playoffs don't always disappear during Olympics.

Marleau, Thornton and Heater were one of Canada's best lines in 2010 and I don't think anyone would suggest that these 3 have great resumes come playoff time.

Marner is too good to leave out. He can play the PK and put up big points. Thats big in a tournament setting. He's not going to be playing with a team like the Leafs who have playoff ghosts taking up half the cap space, he's going to be playing with dudes who have won championships at all levels.

True. And, if he doesn't have to be "the guy", he might excel. As someone else suggested, put him on the 4th line and the PK. Nothing more.

Nick Suzuki will be on one of the teams lower two lines. Canada loves to take extra Centers even if they end up playing on the wing. He is a good two-way player who care score goals and set up goals. He does well under pressure. He makes players around him better. A+ attitude. A+ personality. Easy to coach. He doesn't miss games (3rd highest active iron man streak). Hockey Canada loves this type of player.

Wyatt Johnston is on a similar trajectory as Suzuki and might get a serious look as well.

I don't know why I do NOT like Suzuki. Maybe because he plays for Montreal. Maybe because he looks scrawny and weak. He's a terrific player and I need to get over it.

Nick Suzuki will need to be head and shoulders in the top 12 as turning Hockey Canada down this year will not go over well. He's behind the 8 ball.
