Now that the preseason is over it is time to make the tough decisions. What would your lineup be?

Clarke-Turris-Ryan
This line is too good not to break up. Plus there is enough skill that they can score even if one guy is on a cold streak

Hoffman-Zibanejad-Stone
Give the young kids a chance to prove themselves in the top 6

Michalek-Legwand-Lazar
Legwand and Lazar look great together, try Michalek in Smith's spot

Smith-Pageau-Chiasson
Hate putting Chiasson so low, but it feels like someone is bound to be on too low a line without making a trade

Neil, Greening
Extra forwards

Methot-Karlsson
Obvious is obvious, based on health obviously

Ceci-Cowen
Both have potential to be in our next two best defencemen

Boro-Gryba
Best of the rest

Philly-Wier
Extras

Pageau, Hoffman and Lazar all played great.

Looking forward to seeing the cuts.

Hard to predict what will happen.

I actually liked Wier with Ceci. I'd probably switch Legs with Zibby and stone with chiasson.

My realistic lineup (knowing Maclean):

Mac-Turris-Ryan
Michalek-Zibanejad-Chiasson
Hoffman-Legwand-Stone
Smith-Pageau-Neil
(Again it's Mac's lineup, Neil won't be sat and from Maclean's interviews it sounds like Lazar will be sent down. As for Greening and Condra, waive/trade them)
First call-up:
Puempel

Methot-Karlsson
Cowen-Ceci
Phillips-Gryba
Wier-Boro
(Phillips or Cowen won't be sat and Wier/Bori can't play RD)

I tried making a opening lineup but it was too hard. I guess thats a good thing.

Definitely going to be some surprises

2nd and 3rd line are more of a 2a/2b situation. I really think Lazar stays up the whole year and I really hope we get rid of Greening and Condra so this lineup can realistically happen. We're not cup contenders so might as well give the kids a real shot right now.

Methot-Karlsson

Ceci-Cowen

Phillips-Gryba/Wiercioch

Boro-Wier

2nd pairing scares me, but to me it's the best we can do with the pieces we have. If Murray were to realize the defense isn't good enough and acquired a true top-4 veteran dman to play with and mentor Cowen, we'd be much better suited to make the playoffs.

Andy

Lehner

Andy is our #1, he'll get the bulk of the games while the Lehner slowly takes over next year.

Stone>Lazar

Stone is wayyy more deserving than lazar. You can't just hand lazar a opening night roster spot.

Neil will have a fourth line agitator, policeman, grit/toughness/protector spot. Change lines around that. I doubt he'll be a bench player this year, or ever really.

My Guess,

MacArthur-Turris-Ryan
Hoffman-Zibanejad-Chiasson
Michalek-Legwand-Lazar
Smith-Pageau-Neil
Condra
Greening
Stone sent down for the beg.

Cowen-Karlsson
Methot-Ceci
Phillips-Gryba

If Methot cant go
Cowen-Karlsson
Phillips-Ceci
Wier-Gryba

What I would do if I was GM,

MacArthur-Turris-Ryan
Hoffman-Zibanejad-Chiasson
Michalek-Legwand-Lazar
Robinson-Pageau-Stone
Neil
Condra
Waive Greening, Trade Smith
Puempel 1st call up.

Cowen Karlsson
Methot - Ceci
Wier - Boro
Gryba
Phillips

Its really to bad, we re-signed Phillips and Michalek.

Forwards:
1)Ryan
2)Turris
3)MacArthur
4)zibanejad
5)legwand
6)chiasson
7)stone
8)Hoffman
9)smith
10)michalek
11)pageau
12)Neil
13) Lazar(9 game thing)

Waive condra and maybe greening. Use methot injury to keep 14 forwards. When methot returns to the roster, send Lazar to junior.

1)karlsson
2)methot
3)ceci
4)cowen
5)wiercioch
6)borowiecki
7)gryba
8)Phillips

*no specific order

Edit I'll take a stab at a lineup:

*after Lazar sent down

Macarthur-turris-ryan
Michalek-zibanejad-chiasson
Hoffman-legwand-stone
Smith-pageau-neil

*replace neil with Lazar when/if he's here. If Lazar makes team, Neil is 13th, if not, then Neil is 12th and greening gets to stay as 13th. Condra waived no matter what.

Karlsson-cowen
Methot-ceci
Then a mix of gryba,Phillips, borowiecki and weircioch depending on who's hot and the opponent.

I'll just make this point. I think Lazar should be given 9 games but ultimately sent down unless he tears it up. He could use the extra year to develop his offensive game some more. Plus I don't want to burn a year off his elc and give him ufa status a year earlier. I'd rather have him on elc at 20-21-22 and ufa at 27 then elc at 19-20-21 and ufa at 26. It saves $$$. Euge won't ignore this.

Lazar has been used my Maclean, way more than Stone.

Stone is also waiver exempt. They can try Lazar out for 9 games, and if he doesn't stick, send him back to the W and call up Stone.

I think everyone saying Stone will be sent down are right. Same with Pageau - it's all about the numbers. Maybe in a month, injuries or a trade will clear up the log-jam but there isn't room.
The team is too fragile defensively, the coach trusts Condra's defensive awareness, so he's staying at least until they know which Cowen they have this year.

It was preseason, Lazar was used more because management needs a longer look

Ive been more impressed with Lazar with Pageau, and Lazar can play wing and center.

The ideal scenario is trade Condra and Greening, put hoffman and Lazar instead. Id like to see stone with Chiasson and Zibanejad, that line needs a playmaker. Sadly, both Chiasson and Stone are RW
