I'm expecting he'll be an office role similar to what Bryanbryoil predicted, but man I'd be pretty stoked to see him as an assistant/associate coach.

That's what I thought I heard he'd be.

Or in other words, just a guy that made too much money in his career but is too cheap to buy tickets now so he gets NHL credentials.

That's basically what he is now correct? I think it's just a favour the organization is doing to keep him within the circle of things and still somewhat in the game.

I've never gotten the impression Messier is looking at moving on from New York.

I'd assume he didn't leave the Rangers without a promise that he would get a prominent position with the Oilers..

Hell.. isnt that the reason he left NY? They didn't make him head coach?
