I'm assuming Stuarts contract is insured so there isn't really any pressing need to get rid of it since you most likely can LTIR him. It's only going to be a problem if he decides he's healthy enough to play because then you have the cap hit no matter what for a player who most likely is done.

Gelinas is here to stay at least through next year. He's a project with a higher ceiling than Holden, and they didn't give up a pick to try him for six games and then trade him again. And he did well enough in those six games to loom like a bottom-pair lock next year. If anything, the acquisition was writing on the wall for Holden to be gone.

1. Get Hamonic
2. Trade Holden for pick....any pick
3. Trade Barry to Oilers for 4th pick
4. Draft Pierre Luc Dubois
5. Draft Julien Gauthier
6. Trade Duchesne for 1st defensman (Rangers?) + pick
7. Buy out Stuart
8. Compher, Rantanen, Bigras, Zadorov in NHL

Then your defense can be McDonagh - Hamonic / Jonhson-Bigras / Beauchemin- Zadorov

Fire basically the entire staff from coaches to management because this group has proven that it does not have the understanding or ability to build a winner. Only then can the Avs go places.

Hire solid experienced staff who are not related to the Avs in any way.
Dont screw up the draft.

Trade EJ, Varly, Mitchell and Holden for picks and prospects.
Get rid of Iginla if possible.
Sing our important RFAs.
Fill out the roster with decent UFA additions that are not past their expiry date.

Complete fantasy I know but one has to have dreams:laugh:
