canada is just always stacked lol. Don't even have barzal, seguin, just nasty.

also this may be just me but i like marchand-crosby-barzal more. Barzal and crosby have great chemistry and provides more offense. Give us Couturier back and just slot bergeron where he is lol.

I would not leave Stone scratched. He'd be such a nightmare for us others to put up with.

On nhl or international ice?

shouldn't make any difference. elite is elite. I can't think of one player I'd swap out because the tournament is on NHL ice.

be specific, what are you thinking, Tom Wilson over Mark Stone on NHL ice or vise versa type of deal?

Hmm, Sundqvist over Goalofsson every day. Eriksson Ek over W. Karlsson maybe not. Johansson over Markström right about ...now...yes. PS. Did you notice my extreme choices of role players on the lower lines? :) Kempe - Eriksson Oak on the boxplay and Hörnqvist on the PP. I often chose Kempe as fourth left wing just because it's such a good fit. Can skate and chip in and talented to play against the best. Might be a Hagelin in shape as well. With Marcus Johansson nothing will take place but a good player. Edler or Ekholm is close. And exactly right now Brodin is a better fit on a defense crew with Erik Karlsson and John Klingberg. Maybe not in a year. We all want to see Dahlin - Karlsson in the Worlds, yes.

Olofsson - Karlsson - Nyquist etc. is not an ideal third or fourth line for me.

How much will Olofsson get on his next contract? 4 million more likely than 6.

A player like MattBarzal could be interesting on the big ice. Also Stone isn’t a great skater so he’s much more likely to make my team on a smaller ice surface.

skating ability alone isn't the magic ingredient that by itself determines whether or not a player can play (have success) on big ice, hockey IQ is just as important. It would be ideal if everybody could skate like McDavid, MacKinnon and Barzal, but I'll take the high iq player all the time regardless of the ice size. For this reason Mark Stone makes my 25 man roster on any size ice. Have you seen him play at his 2 WHC? 12 goals and 12 assists in 20 games. He can play big ice just fine. Barzal played well at his lone WHC experience in his rookie year, I'd like to see him give it another shot or two. perhaps this spring in Switzerland. If he's available and if it doesn't get cancelled. something which is looking more likely by the day.

I’d have Stone on my team regardless as well but if everyone skated like him and it was on international ice I’d be concerned. Barzal is a phenomenal player and arguably the best east-west skater in the league. Because of this I’d consider him for my team on the larger ice surface where I wouldn’t on a smaller ice surface.

Im sure hockey Canada factors in skating when playing on the larger ice surface. Ex: Joe Thornton not making it in 2014 but making the World Cup squad in 2016.

yeah, I think Hockey Canada's insistence on having a built in line mate (Kunitz) for Sid was more of a factor in that decision. but that's Hockey Canada... a lot of factors are considered.

In 2014 or 2016 Jumbo Joe doesn't make my 25 man roster. but that's just my team in the abstract. doesn't mean much.

For CZE:

Palat - Hertl - Pastrnak
Vrana - Krejci - Voracek
Kubalik - Faksa - Kase
Chytil - Necas - Zadina

Hronek - Kempny
Gudas - Simek
Rutta - Hajek

Rittich
Francouz

Some decent talent on the front end, solid goalkeeping, but the D... as usual. Hronek may grow into a 1D one day, but that's about it.

Not on paper. How many Swedes crack the Canadian roster? 2-3?

I think you are a bit wrong. No goalie of course. But leaving out Hedman, Karlsson and OEL is hardly done. Bäckström might be seen as "old" but is an international player but maybe a bit slow (which doesn't hamper him much). Zibanejad is a lock on team Canada together with Forsberg and Landeskog. Nylander probably, too. Pettersson for the next tournament. So.. six players on team Canada. Maybe Rakell, Arvidsson and Lindholm would make Team USA. Dahlin on the taxi squad for the Team Canada. or maybe a better fit for Morgan "Second World War memorabilia" Rielly on the next level. Surroundings will make Erik Karlsson a humble team player.

Forsberg - Zibanejad - Arvidsson
Landeskog - Pettersson - W.Nylander
Rakell - Bäckström - Lindholm
Olofsson - W.Karlsson - Burakovsky

Hedman - Klefbom
Ekholm - Karlsson
Dahlin - OEL

Scheifele - MacKinnon - McDavid

Marchand - Crosby - Nylander

O'Reilly - Stamkos - Marner (perfect third line)

Landeskog - Zibanejad - Stone (the meatballs)

Forsberg - Toews

Hedman - Doughty

Pietrangelo - Karlsson

Chabot - Burns

OEL - Makar
