All these anonymous scouts who give their reports to writers like Mckenzie, other reporters and bloggers are giving false reports to set some sort of smokescreen. This method is used A LOT in football and with the top 7 or so being very tight this year, I wouldn't put it past teams using this method.

Obviously independent scouting services like RLR and ISS wouldn't be effected.

Thoughts?

The scouts are anonymous (and, of course this would always be the case) and for this reason this could quite easily be the case.

The other big factor is what scouts he's talking to. Some NHL teams simply do a better job than others.

and even within an organization, a particular scout may prefer a certain player over another. some scouts for edmonton might like rnh, others might like larsson

Don't scouts from different teams talk to each other pretty regularly given how often they'd be at the same games?

Mackenzie's track record speaks for itself.
