I am currently studying advance stats, and learning how to properly use advance stats. So I'm curious on how everyone analyze each position (forwards, defensemen, & goalies) and what stats you use in your analysis.

For goalies, I like to use spesific stats like HDSv% (High danger save%) because it really makes difference between keepers. Of course it isn't only important stat, but it is pretty useful. I don't really like classic stats like GAA or regular SP%. They are useful, I don't deny that, but they don't tell the whole story about a goalie. Regular SP% doesn't specify where the shots come from. Average goalie in team that allows more chances from dangerous slots has obviously worse SP% than goalie with same skill in a team with better defence and more shots coming from the blueline rather than straight in front of the goal.
