To me, a puck moving dman is a guy like Ryan Murray. Not overly flashy, not a lot of offensive output, but try breaking out of the zone with out him.

He's almost always makes the right play, whether it's a chip off the boards, D to D or the long stretch pass to a streaking forward.

Someone who is comfortable with the puck on their stick and isn't looking to throw it away like a hot potato.

being a PMD should basically be a barrier to entry for Dmen in today's NHL If you cant move the puck why are you playing?

Does it mean that he can easily skate out of his own zone with skilled stick handling and skating? Or does it mean that he has great vision with passes coming out of the defensive zone to start a break out?
Puck moving dman aka offensive dman? 2 way forward aka defensive forward?

It`s both. Re-read the title you wrote yourself. It`s a PUCK moving defenseman, not a ''leg moving defenseman'' only. If it makes any sense, ha. But that`s how I always look at it.

Someone guaranteed to be universally hated and ridiculed by the crew that thinks hitting others occasionally, while having no puck skills constitutes being good defensively.

Brady Skjei is the perfect example of this for those who’ve seen him play
Not an offensive/defensive D, not exactly a 2 way D either

A defenseman who can execute zone exits and -entries in a controlled manner, either by making the first pass or skating the puck out himself. Is good at keeping possession of the puck.
